A Dutch architecture studio decided on a bold act by designing a bookstore in a 15th-century Dominican cathedral in the city of Zwolle.
According to the project, the architecture of the 547-year-old building remained intact and all historical elements such as stained glass, the organ and murals were completely preserved. The bookstore was equipped in a three-story structure, located in one of the cathedral halls.
The three floors of paper products do not touch the columns, they are not attached to the building and according to the architectural studio can be dismantled at any time. The color scheme also corresponds to the historical environment.
The architects used only three shades of wood and white plaster in the interior of the store. And for visitors to the bookstore in the cathedral there is a small café.
