Her name is Margery McCall. She is the only woman who was born
and lived once, but was buried twice.
The Irishwoman Marjorie McCall contracted a disease unknown
to doctors in 1705. Days later, she died and her relatives hurried to bury her
so that what had killed her would not spread.
Marjorie's family was in such a hurry to get rid of the body
that she forgot to remove the precious ring she was wearing. Her husband
decided that there was no point in trying to take him down because his beloved
wife's body was extremely swollen.
Marjorie's buried body became a target for thieves who heard
about the expensive ring amid the commotion. Hours after the funeral, before
the earth had settled on the coffin, the marauders dug up Margery. Because of
the swollen body, they decided to cut off her entire finger, along with the
ring. As soon as her blood flowed, Marjorie awoke from the deep coma in which
she had fallen and began to scream in terror and fright.
Nobody knows what happened to the thieves. Some say they
died on the spot, while others say they fled and never encroached on others.
